How Do I Qualify?

You may qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), if the household income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, or if a member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

  • You, your child, or a dependent in your household are participating in specific government assistance programs like SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, or others.
  • Someone in your household already receives a Lifeline benefit.

If you are enrolled in specific government assistance programs like SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, or other similar programs

Federal Assistance Programs

To be eligible for the ACP, you (or someone in your household) must be enrolled in any of the following programs

  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), previously known as Food Stamps
  • Medicaid
  • Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA), which includes programs like Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program (Section 8 Vouchers), Project-Based Rental Assistance (PBRA)/202/811, Public Housing, and Affordable Housing Programs for American Indians, Alaska Natives, or Native Hawaiians
  • Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit, or Lifeline
  • Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program, including participation at U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Eligibility Provision schools
  • Received a Federal Pell Grant in the current award year

When applying for the ACP, you may be required to provide a card, letter, or official document as proof of your participation in one of these programs.

Tribal Assistance Programs

If you reside on qualifying Tribal lands, you qualify for the ACP if your household income is equal to or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Additionally, eligibility extends to individuals (or someone in their household) who participate in the following programs

  • Any of the aforementioned federal assistance programs
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Head Start (provided that households meet the income qualifying standard)
  • Participates in one of these assistance programs and lives on Qualifying Tribal lands:
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (Tribal TANF)
  • Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations
  • Tribal Head Start (income based)

If You Already Receive a Lifeline Benefit

Managed by the Federal Communications Commission, the Lifeline program is aimed at enhancing the affordability of communication amenities for those with lower incomes. If you're already leveraging the benefits of the Lifeline program, you also qualify for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a low income internet service. This arrangement lets you enjoy both benefits at once. You can choose to allocate your ACP and Lifeline benefits to the same service or to different ones as per your requirements. You have the flexibility to apply your ACP and Lifeline benefits to the same or different services based on your specific needs. Qualify Through Your Child or Dependent

For example, if your child or dependent is part of the Free and Reduced-Price School Lunch Program or is a student at a USDA Community Eligibility Provision school, your household is eligible for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).
